As a bride to be, we're sure that you have many dilemmas to go through and one of them would be choosing the perfect bridal bouquet. In this post, we've invited Jovial from Gentle Elephants, a florist, to share a few tips on how to choose the perfect bridal bouquet.
It is sometimes hard to get across what you want for your big day. Miscommunication can occur if your florist and yourself isn't on the same wavelength. Here are some tricks for a better experience while having consultations with your florist. You deserve what you want on your wedding day, and your florist is there to provide.
1. No two florists are the same.
Just as how no two stalks flower are the exactly the same, no florist are exactly the same in terms of creative style and output. It is important then, to communicate your ideas, as a bride-to-be, to your florist. Prepare a mood board, colour scheme or the theme of your wedding. Have no idea what your options are? It could be as simple as showing a picture of your bridal gown or the deco of your wedding venue.
2.Speaking with visuals.
I can’t stress enough how important visuals are when it comes to floral consultations. If you have a rough idea of what want, make sure you have a copy of the image of the flowers. If you are not sure, provide a colour palette of your dress. Words are sometimes hard to convey exactly. Another alternative, if you have no idea what to get, is to provide examples of what YOU DON’T WANT instead. This minuses the chances of miscommunication between your florist and yourself. Providing what you don’t want, would indirectly tell your florist what you might want.
3. There is always an alternative.
Understand that some flowers are seasonal. Talk to your florist to get to know what’s blooming. As florists, we understand that some brides might have a clear view of they would want for a bridal bouquet. And we all do our best to deliver. But we can’t change the seasons. But fret not if your choice of flower doesn’t bloom in time for your wedding, there are plenty of look-a-like flowers out there. Be open to options! They can sometimes be better than the original plan.
4.Your size and your bouquet.
The size of your bouquet is as important as the types of blooms you pick. You won’t want the bouquet to drown out your gorgeous gown. A simple smaller bouquet can accentuate a glamorous dress on a petit bride. A cascading bouquet might be perfect for a taller bride with a classier gown. Let your florist advice you on what suits your stature best!
