Recently, we went on an adventure to the Southern Islands of Singapore for a short casual pre wedding shoot for Rahman & Ain. Initially, when we planned for the shoot, we suggested several other places in the mainland but however, we all chose Lazarus Island because why not?
Rahman & Ain sign both our pre wedding and also our honeymoon photography package. So Lazarus Island was a good call. We never set foot on any Southern Islands and this is the best opportunity for us to bond locally before we set out far north for their Honeymoon shoot!
When we first set foot on St John's Island we were all excited to head down to the white sandy beach and we were greeted by the island's residents, cats, along the way. To get to Lazarus Island, we have to walk pass a "causeway" and that is when we found the first perfect location.
Whenever we shoot on an Island, we always look out for cliffs, rocky area and a view that is spectacular. We were lucky that when we arrive, it was low tide and it exposes a rocky area around the island. We decided to trek around the perimeter of the rocky beach to get to this amazing rock formation.
(We do not recommend to shoot at rocky beach area especially during low tide for fear of sudden high tide. We always make sure that the safety of our couples is our top most priority when we are on shoot.)
After we are satisfied with the location we then trek another 10 minutes till the white sands greeted us. We all got super excited. We had our drone camera at the ready and that's when we told them to be in character of Baywatch. Well, you know, running by the beach scenes. Well, that's what we were trying to achieve. Thank God, the weather was good even though it was high noon. Cloudy and lots of wind!
After all that running, we took a break and dipped our feet at the cool, clear waters of the island's beach. We did hope we had our swimming outfits with us!
Soon enough we packed our stuff and they changed to the next outfit which should be a more colourful theme. This time we explored more of the island to see what great scenery it can offer us and we were not disappointed.
There are hidden location that's considered as a gem to us photographers. Amazing bay view and high grass areas. Words cannot describe the place but it is spectacular.
One thing about getting in and out of the island is by ferry and they have fixed timing. Concerned about our ferry we thought we could end the shoot and make our way back to the jetty. We missed our ferry by the time we reached the jetty and so we did a little bit more exploring around St John's Island. We decide to explore the abandoned houses left by the former residences of the island and took more photos to add into the collection.
We will like to take this opportunity to also congratulate Rahman & Ain and wish them good luck for their upcoming wedding this coming October. We look forward to meeting you guys soon in Europe!
Till next time!
